Open house to mark closing of Burrell’s Stewart School

A community open house to mark the closing of Stewart Elementary School in Lower Burrell will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the school on Leechburg Road.

The public is welcome to walk through the school one last time, take photographs and learn about the history of the school.


Benefit concert scheduled June 21 in Harrison

A concert to benefit the Chief Justin McIntire Memorial Foundation will be from 3 to 8:30 p.m. June 21 at Citizens Hose Fire Rescue, 965 Burtner Road, Harrison.

Country band Saddle Up will perform from 5 to 8 p.m. There will be food trucks, children’s activities including a duck pond, a cash bar and chuck-a-luck.

Friday : Our Lady, Queen of Peace Parish is selling tickets for a spring cash lottery raffle. There will be two winners and each will receive $1,000 cash and a $100 gift certificate to Naser’s Foods in Apollo. The winning numbers will be the 1:30 and 7 p.m. June 13 Daily Pick 3 numbers. Friday : A car show will be from 5 to 8 p.m. at Christ the King Parish, 125 Park Lane, as part of the Leechburg 175th anniversary celebration. Check-in will begin at 3 p.m. There will be food, music and a 50-50. Legacy awards will be awarded based on historic Leechburg car dealerships. Cost: $10 in advance; $15, at the gate. Harrison   

Tuesday: Allegheny Valley Hospital Auxiliary will host a Memory Makers memory board sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the hospital cafeteria, 1301 Carlisle St., Natrona Heights. Boards measure 8 x 12 inches and are created from a picture on your phone or a regular photo. Cash, checks and credit cards accepted. Proceeds will benefit auxiliary projects for the hospital.

Wednesday: The Agape Thrift Shop at Grace United Methodist Church, 1333 Freeport Road, will be open from 1 to 4 p.m. Clean clothing in all sizes is needed. No housewares or bedding please. Bring donations on Wednesday or leave them on the front porch. Do not place donations in the blue bins behind the church.

Wednesday: Allegheny Valley Association of Churches Food Bank will be open from 1:30 to 5 p.m. at 1913 Freeport Road, Natrona Heights. Food bank participants can receive food allotments twice per month. Those who are not yet registered should come from 3 to 4 p.m. on Wednesday. Wednesday: The Becky’s Closet community clothing store at Faith Lutheran Church, 1500 Broadview Blvd., will be open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church. Jefferson Township
