Free transportation available to Greensburg art event

The Westmoreland Museum of American Art will sponsor a Sunday Fun Day celebration, “Women In the Arts,” from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 9 at the museum, 221 N. Main St., Greensburg.

Annual Shamrock Shuffle event planned March 22

The Shamrock Shuffle 5K and one-mile Fun Walk will begin at 10 a.m. March 22 at West Leechburg Volunteer Firehall, 1116 Gosser St.

Check-in will start at 9 a.m. The course will run through the streets of West Leechburg and return to the firehall. A virtual option is also available. Cost is $25 for the live 5K, and $20 for the live Family Walk and both virtual events.

Participants must register by Wednesday to be guaranteed an event T-shirt. Costumes are encouraged and leashed furry friends are welcome. Shoe drive to benefit Vandergrift animal shelter

Tiny Cause Animal Shelter in Vandergrift is collecting gently worn shoes through March 31.

No roller skates, Heelys or ice skates, please. Pairs of shoes should be tied together with the laces or rubber bands and placed into a garbage bag. Do not bring shoes in boxes.

Brackenridge

St. Barnabas Church, 989 Morgan St., will offer the imposition of ashes from 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday outside on the Morgan Street side of the church. An Ash Wednesday service with imposition of ashes and Holy Eucharist will be at 7 p.m. at the church. Details: 724-224-9280.

Harrison

Grace United Methodist Church, 1333 Freeport Road, Natrona Heights, will offer Ashes to Go from 7 to 8:30 a.m. Wednesday. Those attending will remain in their vehicles and receive a traditional ash blessing and short prayer. Enter from Freeport Road onto California Avenue between Sheetz and CVS, turn left to Warner Alley and then turn left at Oregon Ave.

Leechburg

Cross Roads Community Presbyterian Church, 271 Main St., will offer Ashes to Go at 7 a.m. Wednesday in the church parking lot on First Street and at 9 a.m. at Coco Coffeehouse, 163 Market St. An Ash Wednesday dinner will be at 6 p.m. followed by a worship service at 7 p.m. at the church.

The Leechburg Ministerium will sponsor Lenten lunches at 11:45 a.m. Fridays during Lent at Cross Roads Community Presbyterian Church, 271 Main St. Donations are accepted to benefit the group’s emergency voucher fund.

Tarentum

First United Presbyterian Church, 913 Lock St., will offer Ashes to Go from 11 a.m. to noon Wednesday in the church parking lot.

First Baptist Church, 410 E. Third Ave., will offer the application of ashes from 6 to 8 a.m., at 12:30 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the church. The weekly Lenten lunch series will begin Wednesday. The service begins at noon and lunch will be served afterward. Everyone is welcome.
