March 28 dance-a-thon to help fight cancer
A dance-a-thon to benefit Change for Cancer charity will be from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. March 28 in the cafeteria at Burrell High School, Puckety Church Road, Lower Burrell.
Co-sponsored by the Burrell Drama Parent Boosters, this year’s theme will be Broadway. Students in sixth through 12th grade will organize teams and collect sponsors. There will be games, raffles, and prizes, food and drinks will be served and snacks available for purchase. Dancers can enjoy a pool party during the last hour.
Change for Cancer was organized in 2012 by Burrell student Georgia Brothers and helped almost 40 families in the Alle-Kiski Valley who are battling cancer. Her goal is to raise a total of $100,000.

Annual antique show to benefit Oakmont museum
The Kerr Memorial Museum’s 16th annual antique show will be Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Oakmont Country Club, 1233 Hulton Road, Oakmont.
The preview party is from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Friday. The antiques show is from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.
Admission is $75 for the preview party, and $10 for the antique show, valid for both days. Lunch will be available; cash only.
This show is the major fundraiser for the Kerr Memorial Museum, an example of a late 19th-century Queen Anne-style home. Tickets: kerrmuseum.com. Details: 412-826-9295
Evening of chocolate fundraiser to aid Animal Protectors
Animal Protectors of Allegheny Valley will host, “Chocolate Paws,” an evening of chocolate from 6 to 9 p.m. March 28 at River Forest Country Club, Allegheny Township.
The Murphy’s Music Jazz Band will entertain, and there will be a cash bar, basket auction and 50/50 raffle. The buffet dinner will include pasta with meatballs and chicken with marinara, alfredo and primavera sauces, salad, rolls, bruschetta, desserts and chocolate beverages.
Tickets are $35 and include dinner and a free drink ticket. For tickets, visit Animal Protectors of Allegheny Valley on Facebook. Ticket deadline is March 14. No tickets will be sold at the door.
Salvation Army plans free community lunch
A free community lunch will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at the Salvation Army, 917 Brackenridge Ave., Brackenridge.
