St. Patty’s dance party to aid Leukemia and Lymphoma Society

A dance party fundraiser to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society will be from 6 to 11 p.m. March 21 at West Leechburg Fire Hall, 1116 Gosser St.

The St. Patrick Day-themed event will have music, dancing, a gift basket auction and 50/50 raffle.

Tickets are $20; couples, $30, and include beer, pop and water, and lite bites. Those attending must be at least 21 years old.

Super bingo planned April 19 at Natrona Heights VFW

A super bingo to benefit local veterans will be at 2 p.m. April 19 at the Natrona Heights Veterans of Foreign Wars, 894 Veterans Lane, Harrison.

Doors open at 12:30 p.m. Tickets are $40 before April 11; $45 after that date; and $50 at the door, and include food and refreshments. This is a non-smoking venue.

Candy, Easter egg donations sought for overseas military

Saxonburg Coffee and Tea and Military Connections of Pittsburgh have teamed up to send Easter eggs to service members stationed overseas.

To donate, take a gallon-size Ziploc bag and line it with Easter grass. Buy 12 plastic eggs of any size, fill them with three or four pieces of wrapped candy or gum and place them in the bag. Candy must be wrapped. Filled bags must be returned by Monday to Saxonburg Coffee and Tea, 211 W. Main St.


St. Joseph to honor alumni with Spirit of St. Joseph Awards

St. Joseph High School, Natrona Heights, Harrison, will honor several alumni with the Spirit of St. Joseph Awards March 21 at a dinner and ceremony at Oakmont Country Club.

This year’s honorees are Christina (Varrato) Discello, Jeffrey L. Janicik, the Rev. John A Moineau and Frank M. Wolf III, posthumously.

Feral cat spay and neuter clinic planned for March 28

Homeless Cat Management Team will host a free spay and neuter clinic March 28 at the clinic, 207 Allegheny St., Tarentum.

No-charge clinics are free for feral cats only and are sponsored by individual donors and fundraising events. The March 28 clinic will be sponsored in memory of James McDonald Jr.

Service includes surgery, pain medications, flea treatment, ear mite treatment if needed and rabies vaccine. Cats are ear-tipped to show they have been spayed or neutered and vaccinated for rabies.

Registration is required. To register, call 412-321-4060 and leave a message. A volunteer will return your call and complete the registration process. This may take a few days. Feral cats must arrive in a standard humane box trap.

Friday: Vandergrift Public Library and Kiski Area Youth Network will host a free afterhours Teen Night from 6 to 10 p.m. for students in seventh through 12th grade at the library, 128C Washington Ave. There will be food, games, video games and movies. Details: 724-568-2212

March 21: Vandergrift Public Library will have an Escape Room fundraiser at the library, 128C Washington Ave. Teams of four to six members will use observation, logic and team work to solve a series of puzzles to escape with the lost treasure. Allegheny Valley Hospital’s PriorityCare program will host a free Kidney Smart class at 4 p.m. March 25 in the hospital Charles W. Young Conference Center, 1301 Carlisle St, Natrona Heights, Harrison.

Topics will include how kidneys function, chronic kidney disease, how to best manage the disease, treatment choices, help with diets and exercise.
