Spring raffle planned by Animal Protectors

Animal Protectors will conduct its spring basket raffle online from 9 a.m. Saturday through midnight March 26.

Basket themes include dogs, cats, wine, sports, relaxation, books, gift cards, chocolates and wreaths. More baskets will be added.

Tickets are 10 for $10 or 25 for $20. Winners will be announced at 1 p.m. March 27 online on Facebook and notified by phone. Prizes must be picked up at the shelter.

PennDOT to inspect New Kensington Bridge

PennDOT is performing inspection activities today through Saturday on the New Kensington Bridge that carries Route 1038 over the Allegheny River between East Deer and New Kensington.

Single lane alternating traffic will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. today and Friday and 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, weather permitting.

Motorists should expect delays and drive with caution in this area.

Harrison 

Saturday: The Diaper Pantry at Christ Our Hope Anglican Church, Harrison, will distribute diapers from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church, 926 Painter Ave., and at Sheldon Park, both in Natrona Heights. Recipients must drive up and remain in their vehicles. First-time recipients must provide present their own identification, the child’s birth certificate and a current WIC or SNAP card.

Through April 3: Community Library of Allegheny Valley will sponsor a coloring contest for children in observation of National Library Week. Today: Knead Community Café in New Kensington will hand out free grab-and-go dinners from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the café, 1011 Barnes St. This week’s meals are sponsored by Stephan and Lisa Shaw in honor of their son, Officer Brian Shaw. Those picking up meals are reminded to observe social distancing while they wait in line.
