Gas line installation planned in West Deer

Crews from Peoples Natural Gas will conduct gas line installation from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and Monday through Wednesday on Russellton Dorseyville Road between Joseph Street and East Union Road and on East Union Road near the intersection with Russellton Dorseyville road.

Single-lane alternating traffic will occur. Motorists should expect delays and drive with caution in this area.

Harrison  

Saturday: The Diaper Pantry at Christ Our Hope Anglican Church, Harrison, will distribute diapers from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church, 926 Painter Ave., and at Sheldon Park, both in Natrona Heights. Recipients must drive up and remain in their vehicles. First-time recipients must provide present their own identification, the child’s birth certificate and a current WIC or SNAP card.

Through April 3: Community Library of Allegheny Valley will sponsor a coloring contest for children in observation of National Library Week. Coloring pages are available at alleghenyvalleylibrary.org or in the library lobby, 1522 Broadview Blvd. Entries will be displayed in the lobby. A mystery prize will be awarded. Deadline: April 3

Kiski Township 

April 1: Kiski Township Volunteer Fire Department is accepting orders for pies and nut logs from The Pie Shoppe in Laughlintown. Varieties: chocolate meringue, coconut meringue, lemon meringue, apple, dutch apple, blackberry, wild blueberry, razzleberry, cherry, peach, raisin, and pumpkin and pumpkin rolls and nut logs, all $9.50; nut logs and pecan pies, $12. Sunday/Monday: Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary will host the District 27 meeting and banquet at 2 p.m. at the post, 1601 Wildlife Lodge Road. VFW Department President Wendi Henneman will be in attendance. The Lower Burrell Auxiliary will meet at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the post. Members are encouraged to attend both events.

New Kensington

March 31: A quilt raffle will benefit Frankie’s Friends Cat Rescue in New Kensington and Black Cat Cat Rescue in Pittsburgh. The quilt is 37 x 37-inches and includes a hanging rod.
