Collection to benefit Allegheny Valley Association of Churches

Women of the Alle-Kiski Engaging, a division of the Alle Kiski Strong Chamber of Commerce, is sponsoring a collection of household and personal items through May 31 to benefit Allegheny Valley Association of Churches.

Items needed include paper products, diapers, baby wipes, personal care items, laundry detergent, brooms, and cleaning products as well as working new and used vacuum cleaners.

There are many drop-off locations including: Johnny’s Carpet in Freeport and Vandergrift, WestArm Therapy in Lower Burrell and Cheswick, Valerena Roller Rink in North Apollo and Pa. Armstrong museum seeks Civil War items

The Armstrong County Historical Museum and Genealogical Society Inc. in Kittanning is seeking Civil War and post war Grand Army of the Republic items that belonged to Armstrong County men who served in the war to add to its collection.

Your ancestor may have served in one of the following artillery, cavalry or infantry units: 5th Artillery, 8th and 11th Pa. Reserves, 14th Cavalry, or the 62nd, 78th, 103rd, 139th or 155th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry.

Free grab and go lunch offered Wednesday at Allegheny Valley Church of God

Allegheny Valley Church of God, 216 Catalpa St., New Kensington, will serve free grab and go lunches at noon Wednesday.
