Film to discuss opioid addiction
An educational film, “Opioid Addiction: Confessions of Pain, Misery and Destruction,” will be screened at 5:30 p.m. March 29 at the Casino Theater, Vandergrift.
Sponsored by Cook Medical and the Allegheny-Kiski Health Foundation, the purpose of the film is to educate people of all ages about the destructive consequences of the illegal use of opioids and other substances. It is appropriate for audiences who are at least 12 years old and is not intended for individuals who are actively using opioids or other substances.
There will be a discussion with some of the film’s participants, recovery specialists and medical professionals and training in the proper use of naloxone.

Prom gown giveaway planned in Harmar
Bless A Dress will sponsor a free prom gown giveaway for high school students March 30 to April 1 at Pittsburgh Indoor Sports Arena, 22 Rich Hill Road, Harmar.
Hours are 4 to 8 p.m. March 30 and 31 and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 1. Dresses in sizes 0-22 as well as shoes and accessories will be available. No reservations are required. There will be fitting rooms and five seamstresses on site.

Scholarship available to Highlands High School seniors
Tarentum Area Lions Club is offering two $1,000 grants to Highlands School District students who plan to attend a four-year or two-year college or trade school after graduating this year.
