Community Library to host 1923 murder mystery event

Community Library of Allegheny Valley will celebrate the library’s 100th anniversary with a murder mystery event from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday at the library, 1522 Broadview Blvd., Harrison.

The program is set in a 1923 speakeasy and period dress and costumes are encouraged.

March 25: The Outdoor Discovery Center at Crooked Creek will offer a program, “Life in a Vernal Pond,” from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the center, 142 Kerr Road. Harrison

Today: Building Block of Natrona will host its free Veggies for All and Cosmetics Closet outreach for residents in need at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 28 Garfield St., Natrona. Free produce and personal care and hygiene products will be distributed, first come, first served, while supplies last. Please arrive by 12:30 p.m. to line up because supplies go quickly. No income verification required. Everyone welcome. Please wear a mask to prevent spread of the flu, RSV and covid-19.

Today: A Hometown Hero Thank You event will be from noon to 5 p.m. at the Natrona Heights Veterans of Foreign Wars, 894 Veterans Lane, to honor the first responders who serve in Harrison, Brackenridge, Tarentum, Fawn, Frazer and Allegheny Valley Regional police, fire and rescue departments. Sponsored by the Cookie Brigade, Girl Scouts and Hilltop Hose, there will be a place to take your photo with a first responder, children’s activities, presentations and a Pittsburgh Cookie Table.
