Lane to be restricted on Tarentum Bridge beginning Monday

As part of a bridge rehabilitation project, PennDOT will close the right lane on the Tarentum Bridge going westbound into Tarentum from New Kensington from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday, weather permitting.

A lane of traffic will be maintained as crews conduct drainage work in preparation of upcoming work on the ramp.

This $3.24 million bridge rehabilitation project will include new latex modified overlay, steel repairs, bearing and expansion dam replacement, concrete substructure repairs, and zone painting.

Motorists should expect delays and drive with caution in this area.

In-person open house planned at St. Joseph High School

St. Joseph High School in Harrison will host an in-person open house from 10 a.m. to noon March 27 at the school, 800 Montana Ave., Natrona Heights.

Current students, parents and faculty will be available and there will be tours of the facility. Due to covid-19 safety regulations, all guests must register in advance online at SaintJosephHS.com.

Plum Rotary sponsoring sock collection for the homeless

Plum Rotary Club is collecting new men’s and women’s socks for the homeless.

Donations can be dropped off through April 5 at the Plum Municipal Building, Holiday Park Shop ‘n Save, Penn Hills Shop ‘n Save, S&T Bank in Murrysville and Sampson Family YMCA.


Church to pass out food boxes

Members of BridgePoint Church, 400 E. Ninth Ave., Tarentum, will place food boxes at the front door of people who live near the church after the Sunday service.

The group plans to pass out 100 boxes of food as part of the church Love Thy Neighbor Campaign.
