Spirit of St. Joseph Awards dinner to honor alumni
St. Joseph High School, Natrona Heights, Harrison, will honor several alumni with the Spirit of St. Joseph Awards March 21 at a dinner and ceremony at Oakmont Country Club.
This year’s honorees are Christina (Varrato) Discello, Jeffrey L. Janicik, the Rev. John A Moineau and Frank M. Wolf III, posthumously.

Project to send Easter eggs to military overseas
Saxonburg Coffee and Tea and Military Connections of Pittsburgh have teamed up to send Easter eggs to service members stationed overseas.
To donate, take a gallon-size Ziploc bag and line it with Easter grass. Buy 12 plastic eggs of any size, fill them with three or four pieces of wrapped candy or gum and place them in the bag. Candy must be wrapped. Filled bags must be returned by March 16 to Saxonburg Coffee and Tea, 211 W. Main St.
Knoch High School to present musical
The Knoch High School, Jefferson Township, will present the musical, “Nice Work If You Can Get It,” at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday in the high school auditorium, 345 Knoch Road.

Semper Gratus to host dance fundraiser March 21
A dance party fundraiser to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society will be from 6 to 11 p.m. March 21 at West Leechburg Fire Hall, 1116 Gosser St.
The St. Patrick Day-themed event will have music, dancing, a gift basket auction and 50/50 raffle.
Tickets are $20; couples, $30, and include beer, pop and water, and lite bites. Those attending must be at least 21 years old.

Afterschool help available for Highlands students
The Building Block of Natrona offers a free afterschool program for Highlands School District students in kindergarten through 12th grade from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Wednesdays at the offices of Allegheny Family Network North, 1600 Pacific Ave., Harrison.

Allegheny and Washington counties
Astronomers Association to offer scholarship
The Amateur Astronomers Association of Pittsburgh is offering a $1,000 scholarship to a student who is a senior at a high school in Allegheny or Washington counties.
Students must be enrolled and accepted to study astronomy, physics or mathematics at a four-year college or university and have earned a grade point average of at least 3.25/4.0. For other requirements and an application packet, visit 3AP.org.
Applications must be postmarked by April 1.
Vandergrift
Scholarship applications available for Italian heritage scholarship
Festa Italiana di Vandergrift will award two one-time $2,000 scholarships to a high school senior who will attend post-secondary education next year.
Applicants must have one parent who lived in the 15690 zip code for at least one year during their life, one parent who is of Italian descent and complete a 500-word essay on the importance of their Italian heritage in their life.
Essays will be judged anonymously by an independent committee of retired Kiski Area teachers.
Applications are available at festaitaliana.us and in the guidance offices of Kiski Area, Leechburg Area, Apollo-Ridge and St. Joseph high schools. Application deadline is April 1.
