Apollo Cemetery to sponsor cleanup day Saturday

The Apollo Historic Cemetery, under the perpetual care of the Apollo Area Lions Club, will host a cleanup and workday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the cemetery.

Boy Scout Troop 589 from Spring Church, Kiski Township, and the Apollo-Ridge LEO Club will participate, and community members are welcome to volunteer.

Tasks will include raking leaves and picking up twigs. Volunteers should bring rakes, gloves and leaf blowers, if possible. Social distancing and masks are encouraged.

Allegheny Valley Association of Churches accepting donations for food bank

Donations are welcome for the Allegheny Valley Association of Churches food bank in Harrison.

Items most needed include diapers, bread, spaghetti and sauce, bottled juice, and canned chicken and tuna and can be dropped off from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesdays and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays at the office, 1913 Freeport Road, Natrona Heights.
