Collection to benefit Allegheny Valley Association of Churches

Women of the Alle-Kiski Engaging, a division of the Alle Kiski Strong Chamber of Commerce, is sponsoring a collection of household and personal items through May 31 to benefit Allegheny Valley Association of Churches.

Items needed include paper products, diapers, baby wipes, personal care items, laundry detergent, brooms, and cleaning products as well as working new and used vacuum cleaners.

There are many drop-off locations:

• Minuteman Press, 541 Hyde Park Road, suite B, Allegheny Township

• Alle Kiski Strong Chamber, 1525 Freeport Road, Harrison

• Springdale Free Public Library, 331 School St., Springdale

• Harvest Moon Coffee and Chocolates, 206 Corbet St., Tarentum

Allegheny Township offices remain closed to the public

The Allegheny Township Tax office and Municipal Authority office, both located at 1001 S. Leechburg Hill Road in Kiski Park Plaza remain closed to walk-in customers.

Payments can be sent by mail or left in the drop box at the office. Please enclose a self-address, stamped envelope if a receipt is required.

Free clean-up supplies available for community events

The annual Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful campaign offers registered participants free trash bags, gloves and safety vests provided by support from the state Department of Environmental Protection, PennDOT and Keep America Beautiful, as supplies last.

Events can include litter cleanups, illegal dump cleanups, community greening and beautification, special collections and public education events. Events must be registered at gacofpa.org to receive free supplies.

Cheer camp planned in Lower Burrell

Flyers Cheerleading and Burrell Bucs Air Raid Flag Football league will host a free four-week cheer camp beginning April 11 for children in kindergarten through seventh grade who live in the Burrell School District.

The camp will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. April 11, 18 and 25 and May 2 at Flyers Field, Route 56, Lower Burrell. Parents must come to a 1 p.m. April 11 check-in to fill out waiver forms. Children who are registered by April 1 will receive a camp t-shirt.
