Donations welcome for Easter meals, treats

Allegheny Valley Association of Churches Food Bank is accepting donations that will be used to create specially prepared treat bags and a gift card to be used for the purchase of an Easter meal for our neighbors in need.

Each basket costs $15. Checks made out to AVAC Food Bank can be sent to AVAC, 1913 Freeport Road, Natrona Heights PA 15065. Donations will be acknowledged.


Craft show to benefit water program in Malawi

Redemption Church of Lower Burrell will sponsor a craft and vendor fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Quality Inn, 600 Tarentum Bridge Road, New Kensington.

Admission is $2 and proceeds will benefit the church’s Clean Water Initiative to raise funds to dig wells for the people of Malawi.

Friday: An all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner will be from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at Bell Township Fire Department, 201 Main St., Salina. Menu: spaghetti with marinara sauce, meatballs, salad, bread, dessert and beverages, $10.

April 16: Bell Township Volunteer Fire Department is holding a “You’ve Been Egged” fundraiser through April 11. Candy-filled plastic eggs can be delivered April 16 to your yard in the Bell and Avonmore areas via the firetruck with the Easter Bunny or a basket can be left on the porch with a note from you. Cost: 25 eggs, $20; 30 for $25; 40 for $35; 50 for $40; basket with 20 eggs and 5 chocolate lollipops, $25. Reservations required. Time slots fill up fast. Paid reservations required by April 11. Buffalo Township

Saturday: Sarver Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS) will sponsor a rummage and bake sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Christ Community Fellowship, 160 Singleton Road. Fill a bag for $10.

East Vandergrift   

Friday: Our Lady, Queen of Peace Parish is selling raffle tickets for a half a cow, a 15.5-cubic foot freezer, a $200 gift card to Rukas Beverage, a $100 gift card to Naser’s Foods, and a $100 gift card to Lackey’s Dairy Queen. Saturday : Freeport Kiwanis will host a turkey and biscuit dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. in the social hall of Freeport United Methodist Church, 211 Fourth St. Dine in or takeout. Cost: $10; younger than 10, $5. This is the dinner that was canceled March 12 because of snow. Proceeds will benefit the club scholarship program.

Gilpin

Harrison

Friday: Natrona Heights Veterans of Foreign Wars will have bingo at 7 p.m. at the post, 894 Veterans Lane. Doors open at 6 p.m., and there will be specials, a 50/50 raffle and final game jackpot.
