Bowling fundraiser to benefit Highlands baseball program

“Bowling for Baseball,” a fundraiser to benefit the Highlands High School baseball teams, will be from 1 to 4 p.m. March 15 at Wildlife Lanes, Wildlife Lodge Road, Lower Burrell.

Check-in will begin at 12:30 p.m. Cost is $20 per person and includes unlimited bowling with five or six bowlers per lane, shoe rental and a 12-cut pizza and pitcher of pop per lane. Bowlers of all ages are welcome. There will be a 50/50 raffle, basket auction and bake sale.

Gerrymandering program planned in Fox Chapel

A seminar, “How We End Gerrymandering in Pennsylvania,” will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Cooper-Siegel Community Library, 403 Fox Chapel Road, Fox Chapel.

The session will include a presentation on gerrymandering, the status of proposed legislation, a local petition signing to encourage support for a resolution by Fox Chapel Council and information on the Fair Districts PA Spring Rally in Harrisburg.

March 14: Freeport Kiwanis and Freeport Area Key Club will host a turkey and biscuit dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. in the high school cafeteria, 625 S. Pike Road. March 17: Leechburg Public Library is sponsoring a lottery ticket raffle based on the 7 p.m. March 17 Pick 3 Lottery number. The winner will receive a complete roll of $10 and $20 Pa. scratch-off tickets. Tickets: $5, available at Sprankle’s Community Market, the Gifted Garden, the borough building, Coco Coffeehouse and the library.

New Kensington

Friday: East Kensington Community Circle will have salad bingo at 6 p.m. in the community circle building, 1785 Seventh St. Road. Cost: $5, includes one board, a chance to win a door prize, salad buffet, dessert and coffee. Public welcome.

Oakmont

Friday: The free movie series at 7 p.m. at Oakmont Presbyterian Church, 415 Pennsylvania Ave. will feature the film, “Biggest Little Farm,” rated PG, in the church multi-purpose room on the lower level. Free popcorn. Details: 412-828-5770

Monday: The Cookbook Club at Oakmont Carnegie Library will meet from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the library White Oak Room. AVH to offer program for health care providers about domestic violence

Allegheny Valley Hospital will offer a workshop for health care providers, “Domestic Violence and Medical Advocacy,” March 24 in the hospital Charles W. Young Conference Center, 1301 Carlisle St., Natrona Heights.

Dinner will be served at 5 p.m. and the program will begin at 5:30 p.m.

Topics will include how to recognize domestic violence, identify sexual coercion and connect to HOPE’s services.

Mediterranean Diet to be discussed at Allegheny Valley Hospital
