Leechburg HS students craft donor board for foundation

Students at Leechburg Area High School recently made a hand-crafted donor board to commemorate the generous donations made by community members and alumni to the Leechburg Area Education Foundation.

The foundation awards several Robert E. Nigro Scholarships yearly to seniors who will attend college, trade school or other post-secondary training opportunities and donates toward Leechburg student activities by donating instruments, educational supplies, teacher grants and partial reimbursements for students taking college in high school classes.

The project was made by teacher Daniel Stitt and his wood shop class. Brandon Tarr programmed and machined the text and Devin Salsgiver led the effort to assemble, clamp, glue and sand the board. The entire seventh period class did the sanding, staining and adding polyurethane to finish the board.

The donor board is on display in the lobby of the high school gymnasium and name plaques will be added at different donor levels.
