Workshops to teach the art of Ukrainian Easter eggs

Faith Lutheran Church, Harrison, will offer workshops to learn how to make Ukrainian Easter eggs from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. March 14 and April 4 at the church, 1500 Broadview Blvd., Natrona Heights.

Attend either session. Cost is $20 and includes materials and lunch. Reservations are required.

Fundraiser to benefit Allegheny River lock operations

Allegheny River Development Corporation will sponsor the sixth annual Lock Kickoff Fundraiser Saturday at Futules’ Harmar House, 1321 Freeport Road, Harmar.

Doors open at 5 p.m. and a buffet dinner will be at 6. There will be music, dancing, a silent auction and 50/50 raffles.

HOPE Center to host raffle fundraiser March 14

Cabin Fever Reliever, a raffle fundraiser to benefit the Alle-Kiski Area HOPE Center, will be from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 14 at the Natrona Heights Veterans of Foreign Wars, 894 Veterans Drive, Harrison.

Admission is $10 and includes lunch, pop, beer and one entry into the door prize drawing. Drawings will be every half hour and there will be cash bar. Raffle tickets will be 20 tickets for $10.

Harrison cemetery to hold cleanup

Mount Airy Cemetery and Mausoleum in Harrison will conduct Spring Cleanup beginning March 15, weather permitting.

Family members are asked to remove all winter decorations, flags, wreaths and flowers they wish to keep prior to March 15. Spring and Easter decorations placed on graves will remain.

A copy of rules and regulations is available at the cemetery office.


Winter clothes offered at discount at Community Clothes Closet

The Community Clothes Closet, 1129 Kenneth Ave., New Kensington, offers winter clothing, including coats, shoes, boots, for men, women and children, linens and blankets, and uniforms for students of Mary Queen of Apostles School. A buy one, get one free sale on winter clothes will run through March 14. First-time customers receive 15 free items. Hours: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Mondays and noon to 2 p.m. Tuesdays. A drop-off container for donations is at the entrance.

Saturday: The Elks will feature the Stagger Lee Band from 8 to 11 p.m. in the lodge, 219 E. Sixth Ave. Non-smoking venue. No cover charge.

Vandergrift

Saturday: The Veterans of Foreign Wars will host a bingo at 7 p.m. at the post, 141 Sumner Ave. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. The kitchen will be open. Cost: $40, includes 18 cards; or $25, nine cards. There will be free hot dogs and coffee, early bird games, specials and a smokers’ break game.

Washington Township

April 5: Space applications are being accepted for an auto parts swap meet set for 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Washington Township Volunteer Fire Co., Route 66. Cost: 12 x 24-foot space, $25; 12 x 48-foot space, $45; inside 32-foot space, $55. Vendor set up will begin at 11 p.m. April 4. First come, first served. Items will include parts and accessories from anything automotive, classic, high performance, trucks, cars, motorcycles or boats. Food and beverages will be sold inside. West Deer
