Free webinar available from Penn State Extension

Spring is almost here and Penn State Extension is offering a live webinar, “Seed Starting Made Simple,” from 7 to 8:15 p.m. March 18 online at Zoom.us.

Topics will include on how to grow your own seedlings, how to read a seed packet, the use of grow lights and fertilizers and more. Cost is $5.

Online free workshops offered for small businesses

SCORE, a national volunteer organization dedicated to helping small businesses and non-profit organizations, will offer two free online workshops in March.

• Small Business Basics, 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 13, is intended to help new businesses get off to the right start by studying the legal requirements of starting a new business, business plans, record keeping, taxes, bank loan financing and marketing.

• First Steps to Opening a Restaurant, 5:30 to 7 p.m. March 18, will give real insights into the issues and opportunities of opening a restaurant, catering business or food specialty business.
