Christopher’s Light children’s charity accepting donations
Due to the increasing number of families experiencing unemployment, Christopher’s Light is seeking donations to purchase personal hygiene products, clothing and birthday gifts for the children it serves in Armstrong, Westmoreland and Indiana counties.

Lower Burrell park trails open today
Walking and running trails in Lower Burrell parks were reopened today for use by residents.
Areas that promote crowds or close physical contact, such as workout areas and basketball courts are still closed and organized sports in the parks is still prohibited.
Fishing is allowed at Burrell Lake Park, and anglers must observe physical distancing. Public restrooms are not yet available.
Donations welcome for the Friendship Garden Food Pantry
Donations for the food pantry in the Tarentum Friendship Garden can be dropped off at the pantry on First Avenue or at the side doors to First United Presbyterian Church, 913 Lock St., Tarentum.
Items needed include cereal, bread, canned vegetables, soup, macaroni and cheese, rice, spaghetti and pasta sauce.
Free seminar offered Tuesday by Corner Launchbox
The Corner Launchbox in New Kensington, in cooperation with the Beaver Valley Launchbox, will sponsor a free virtual lunch seminar, “Legal Issues In Events Planning,” via Zoom at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Topics will include liability of event venues, promoters, employers, sponsors, vendors and attendees, along with pointers for policies, risk management, insurance, liability waivers and training that could help protect your business from this new threat.

Kiski Area School Board seeking new member
Residents of Washington Township, Oklahoma Borough, Avonmore and Bell Township who are interested in serving as the Region 2 representative on the Kiski Area School Board should send a letter of interest and resume by May 7 to the district administrative office at 200 Poplar St., Vandergrift PA 15690.
Applicants must be at least 18 years old and have lived in the district for at least one year. Please indicate on your envelope that the letter concerns the school board vacancy.
Saxonburg fire company to start annual fund drive
Saxonburg Volunteer Fire Company is conducting its annual fund drive for 2020. Letters were mailed to all residents, businesses and property owners within their service area.
