Memorial Day events to be published

Kiski Watershed Association accepting donations

The Kiski Watershed Association is accepting donations to be used to stock the Kiski River with trout.

The association has raised almost enough money for one stocking and needs the public’s help to fund a second event.

To contribute, send a check made payable to KWA with “trout fund” written in the memo section to P.O. Box 83, Leechburg PA 15656.


Leechburg Hall of Fame induction slated

The 17th annual Leechburg Hall of Fame Dinner and Induction Ceremony will be May 16 at Gilpin Fire Hall, 113 Firehall Road.

Bishop Larry Kulick of the Catholic Diocese of Greensburg will be master of ceremonies. Individuals being inducted into the Hall of Fame include Ryan Sprankle, Doug Sprankle, Joe Felchow and Mark Maszgay, posthumously.

Appetizers and dinner will be at 6 p.m., followed by the induction ceremony. Tickets are $25 and include cocktails, appetizers and dinner.

Tickets may be purchased at Nextier Bank, Leechburg Pharmacy and Leechburg Public Library, all on Market Street, and Sprankle’s Neighborhood Market. The event is sponsored by the Leechburg Area Community Association.


Meals On Wheels volunteers needed

Celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, Highlands Meals On Wheels is seeking volunteers to deliver food on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays to local residents.

Philatelists plan Butlerpex

Butlerpex 2021, the annual stamp and postcard exhibition and exchange of the Butler County Philatelic Society, is set for 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and May 8 at Tanglewood Center, 10 Austin Ave., Lyndora.

Butlerpex will have a post office, children’s table, lunch counter, table auction and 13 dealers offering philatelic supplies, stamps and collectable postcards for the novice through the advanced collector, and free admission and parking.


Free concert tonight in Tarentum

The band American Pie will perform a free concert from 4 to 7 p.m. today in the Carl J. Magnetta Memorial Amphitheater in Riverview Park, First Avenue, Tarentum.
