Allegheny Valley Association of Churches accepting donations for food bank

Donations are welcome for the Allegheny Valley Association of Churches food bank in Harrison.

Items most needed include diapers, bread, spaghetti and sauce, bottled juice, and canned chicken and tuna and can be dropped off from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesdays and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays at the office, 1913 Freeport Road, Natrona Heights.

Lower Valley Food Bank offers assistance

Lower Valley Community Food Bank will distribute food from 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday from the rear entrance of the Springdale borough building.

No one should arrive before 12:45 p.m. Enter onto Walnut Street on the side of the borough building from James Street. Traffic volunteers will guide vehicles.

Anyone in need of food who lives in Springdale, Springdale Township, Cheswick, Harmar and the sections of Indiana Township and West Deer with a zip code of 15024 is welcome. New recipients can register Thursday.

Family movie series to feature, ‘Bee Movie’

The free Allegheny County Family Drive-in Movie series planned Friday in Boyce Park wave pool parking lot will be, “Bee Movie,” rated PG.

Gates open at 6 p.m. and the movie starts at dusk. There is a 100-vehicle limit, first-come, first served. Gates will close when the movie starts, or the venue reaches capacity.

Movie audio is played through a radio transmitter on 87.9 FM.

Reunion

• Kiski Area Class of 1971 will have a reunion meeting at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the Mirror Room at the Marconi Lodge, 135 River Ave. All classmates encouraged to attend.

June 11: St. Joseph High School is conducting a $20,000 Super Raffle. Cost: $100 per ticket. Prizes include a $20,000 grand prize, three $1,000 runner-up prizes. Winner need not be present.
