Exhibit to honor Armstrong County men who served in Civil War

The Armstrong County Historical Museum and Genealogical Society will present, “Armstrong to Appomattox: Armstrong County Men Who Served in the Civil War,” from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the museum, 300 N. McKean St., Kittanning.

Speakers will include Michael Kraus, curator and historian from Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hall, Pittsburgh, on Saturday and authors and historians Art Fox and John Haltigan on Sunday. There is no admission fee. Free parking will be available on Vine and McKean streets and behind the museum via the North Grant Avenue entrance. Covid-19 guidelines will be observed.

Family movie series to feature, ‘Up’

The free Allegheny County Family Drive-in Movie series planned Friday in Boyce Park wave pool parking lot will be, “Up,” rated PG.

Gates open at 6 p.m. and the movie starts at dusk. There is a 100-vehicle limit, first-come, first served. Gates will close when the movie starts, or the venue reaches capacity.

Movie audio is played through a radio transmitter on 87.9 FM.

Lower Burrell Meals on Wheels seeking volunteers

Lower Burrell Meals on Wheels is seeking volunteers to help in the kitchen and make deliveries in Arnold, New Kensington and Lower Burrell.

June 6: Arnold Volunteer Engine Co. will sponsor a drag queen bingo at 2 p.m. in the Arnold No. 2 Training and Social Hall, 1702 Fifth Ave. Doors open at noon. Cost: $30; $35 at the door, includes eight regular games and there will be specials and extra packets. The kitchen will be open from noon to 2 p.m. BYOB. Must be at least 21 years old. Brackenridge

Thursday: Bingo will be hosted by the American Legion at 7:15 p.m. at the post, 845 First Ave. Face masks and social distancing required. The kitchen will be closed.

East Vandergrift

June 20: Our Lady, Queen of Peace Parish is selling raffle tickets for whole pig raffle. The winner will receive a whole pig, a 20-cubic foot freezer, a $200 gift card to Locust Grove Country Shop, a $200 gift card to Rukas Beverage and a $100 gift card to the Vandergrift Fox’s Pizza Den. The winning number will be the 7 p.m. June 20 Pa. Daily Pick 3 number. Tickets are $10 for two numbers. Proceeds will benefit the parish operating budget. Harrison  

Today: The Agape Thrift Shop at Grace United Methodist Church, 1333 Freeport Road, will be open from 1 to 4 p.m. Masks required.

Today: Allegheny Valley Association of Churches Food Bank will be open to anyone in need from 1:30 to 5 p.m. at 1913 Freeport Road, Natrona Heights. Pull into the center parking lot and food will be placed into your vehicle. Those who are not yet registered should come from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Friday: Natrona Heights Veterans of Foreign Wars will have bingo at 7 p.m. at the post, 894 Veterans Lane. Doors open at 6 p.m., and there will be specials, a 50/50 raffle and final game jackpot.

June 11: St. Joseph High School is conducting a $20,000 Super Raffle. Cost: $100 per ticket. Prizes include a $20,000 grand prize, three $1,000 runner-up prizes. Winner need not be present. Only 500 tickets will be sold. Tickets: 724-226-7877. Proceeds help to keep tuition affordable for students at the school.

Kiski Township

Thursday: Kiski Township Sewage Authority will meet at 6 p.m. in the municipal building, 1222 Old State Road.

Leechburg 

Thursday: The free genealogy group at Leechburg Area Museum and Historical Society will meet from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the museum, 118 First St. Basic computer skills and face masks required.
