GriefShare program offered in Leechburg

First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Leechburg, will host a 13-week GriefShare support group from 6 to 8 p.m. Mondays June 14 to Sept. 6 at the church, 358 Main St.

The group is for anyone who has lost an important person in their life and may need assistance in dealing with the grief and hardships this loss may have caused. Sessions will be in the church sanctuary. Masks will be required to enter the building and social distancing will be observed.

Volunteers needed to place flags on veterans’ graves

Help is needed to place flags on veterans’ graves Wednesday in the St. Catherine Cemetery, 614 Evergreen Road, Gilpin.

To give your time, meet at 9:30 a.m. at the cemetery chapel.


Plum Rotary collecting donations for animal shelters

Donations are being accepted through June 15 by Plum Rotary for local animal shelters

Items needed for dogs and cats include new or gently used leashes and collars, food and toys; heartworm, flea and tick medications, and liquid, chewable and gel multivitamins.

Donations can be dropped off at the Plum municipal building, S&T Bank in Murrysville, and the Penn Hills and Holiday Park Shop ‘n Save markets.


Food pantry available in Harrison

The Natrona Community Pantry is in Natrona Community Park, 12-20 River Road, Harrison.

Anyone in need is welcome to visit. Donations are welcome. Suggested items include canned fruit and vegetables, spices, salt and pepper, tuna, cake mix, powdered milk and tea bags.


Drive-through food distribution set at Lernerville Speedway

Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank will host a drive-through food distribution for anyone in need from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at Lernerville Speedway, 313 N. Pike Road, Buffalo Township. No cars are permitted to arrive before 11 a.m.

Reservations are required to ensure enough food is available and they fill up quickly. To make a reservation, visit pittsburghfoodbank.org/drive-up/butler/ or call 412-460-3663, ext. 655. Bring your confirmation page or email for your reservation to the event. There is no required proof of eligibility and anyone is eligible for food.
