Lower Burrell American Legion collecting old flags
Lower Burrell American Legion is collecting old, worn and damaged American flags for a flag retirement ceremony.
Flags can be dropped into the box in front of the post, 1100 Wildlife Lodge Road.
The retirement ceremony will be held privately and filmed for broadcast later.
Trash pickup delayed in Tarentum
Trash pickup in Tarentum is delayed one day due to the Memorial Day holiday.
Residents should ensure that containers are available for collection and move parked vehicles and obstacles to their trash.
Animal Protectors seeking donations
Animal Protectors of Allegheny Valley in New Kensington is seeking donations of food, money and cleaning supplies to help with the current kitten season.
The wish list for most-needed items includes clay kitty litter, Purina kitten chow, Purina puppy food, six-foot leashes, Purina One Dog formula, he laundry detergent, dryer sheets, white copy paper, garbage bags, toilet paper, throw rugs with rubber backing, Lupine Martingale collars, blankets and towels. Allegheny Valley Association of Churches Food Bank open Wednesday
The Allegheny Valley Association of Churches Food Bank will be open to anyone in need from 1:30 to 5 p.m. Wednesdays at 1913 Freeport Road, Natrona Heights, Harrison.

Food Truck event planned Wednesday in Apollo
The Wheel Good Wednesday food truck event sponsored by the Apollo Events Committee and Apollo Area Historical Society will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the old Stanford lot on Clifford Avenue.
Vendors from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. will be Main Squeeze Juice and RollUp Truck and DelVecchio’s Sausage and PghCrepes from 4 to 8 p.m.
Any food truck vendor who wishes to participate at a future event should email apolloevents@gmail.com.

Pickup on June 2 will be for Laneville, Locust Street, Stewart Street, Hickory Way, Buffalo Street, Washington Street, Franklin Street, Mill Street and Second Street Extension. AARP Tax Appointments have been postponed and representatives will contact clients directly who have an upcoming appointment.
