Blue Star Memorial Marker to be dedicated in Lower Burrell

Burrellton Garden Club will sponsor a dedication ceremony of the Blue Star Memorial Marker at 11 a.m. Saturday in front of Stewart Elementary School, 2880 Leechburg Road, Lower Burrell.

The Blue Star Memorial Marker Program was started by the National Garden Club to honor all men and women who served, are serving and will serve in the Armed Forces.

Huston Middle School pupil Elliana Koulouris will sing the National Anthem and the Lower Burrell American Legion Honor Guard will participate. The public is welcome.


Donations welcome for the Friendship Garden Food Pantry

Donations for the food pantry in the Tarentum Friendship Garden can be dropped off at the pantry on First Avenue.

Items needed include cereal, bread, canned vegetables, soup, macaroni and cheese, rice, spaghetti and pasta sauce. Give what you can, take what you need.

East Vandergrift 

June 20: Our Lady, Queen of Peace Parish is selling raffle tickets for whole pig raffle. The winner will receive a whole pig, a 20-cubic foot freezer, a $200 gift card to Locust Grove Country Shop, a $200 gift card to Rukas Beverage and a $100 gift card to the Vandergrift Fox’s Pizza Den. The winning number will be the 7 p.m. June 20 Pa. Daily Pick 3 number. Tickets are $10 for two numbers. Proceeds will benefit the parish operating budget. Friday: Harmar Supervisors will conduct a special meeting at 10 a.m. at the municipal building, 701 Freeport Road, to act on certain personnel matters and make appointments. Public welcome.

Harrison  

Friday: Natrona Heights Veterans of Foreign Wars will have bingo at 7 p.m. at the post, 894 Veterans Lane. Doors open at 6 p.m., and there will be specials, a 50/50 raffle and final game jackpot.

June 11 : St. Joseph High School is conducting an online basket raffle as part of the annual Spartan Scramble golf outing. Monday: Tickets are on sale for a Memorial Day Lottery Scratch-off Ticket Raffle to benefit Leechburg Public Library. Winner receives one roll of $20 and one roll of $10 scratch-off tickets. New Kensington

Thursday: Knead Community Café in New Kensington will hand out free grab-and-go dinners from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the café, 1011 Barnes St. This week’s meals are sponsored by an anonymous donor. Those picking up meals are reminded to observe social distancing while waiting in line.
