Benefit concert planned Sunday in Memorial Park

A concert to benefit Steve Matto of From the Scene Photography will be from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday in Memorial Park, New Kensington.

Bands scheduled to perform include:

• 2 p.m., Villain.

• 3:20 p.m., Heidi and the Hellcats.

• 4:40 p.m., Big House Pete.

• 6 p.m., Sourmash.

Admission is $5. There will be food vendors and a 50/50 raffle. Rain or shine.

Boat blessing and worship service set in Freeport park

Saved By Grace will host a Blessing of the Boats ceremony at 10:30 a.m. Sunday in Riverside Park, Freeport.

A worship service with music by Suzy and Byron will be afterward. The public is welcome.

Boot drive to benefit fire company

Washington Township Volunteer Fire Company will conduct a boot drive beginning at 10 a.m. Sunday at the intersection of Route 66 and Beaver Run Road in the township.

Donations will benefit the fire company.

• Burrell High School of 1967 will have a reunion at 3 p.m. July 2 at the Lower Burrell American Legion, Wildlife Lodge Road. • Highlands High School Class of 1970 will host a Turning 70 mixer at 6 p.m. Aug. 27 at Hill Crest Country Club, 3411 Leechburg Road, Lower Burrell. All Highlands High School graduates are welcome. Saturday: Real Life Church, 1825 Freeport Road, will host a family game night at 7 p.m. in the church fellowship hall. Bring your game or play one at the church.

Saturday: Arnold United Methodist Church, 1801 Leishman Ave., will host an all-you-can-eat spaghetti and meatball dinner from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at the church. Menu: spaghetti, meatballs, salad, bread, cake and beverage. Dine in or takeout. Cost: $9; younger than 12, $6; takeout orders, $10.

Saturday: St. Vladimir Ukrainian Catholic Church will have its final pop-up pierogi sale until September from 9 to 10:30 a.m. in the church social hall, 1610 Kenneth Ave. Varieties: sauerkraut or potato, $11, per frozen dozen. Assorted varieties of frozen pierogi from St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Church, Pittsburgh, will be available for $10 per dozen. Fresh stuffed cabbage will be sold for $3.50 to benefit Ukraine. Quantities are limited. No advance orders will be accepted.

Harrison

Today: Natrona Heights Veterans of Foreign Wars will have bingo at 7 p.m. at the post, 894 Veterans Lane. Doors open at 6 p.m., and there will be specials, a 50/50 raffle and final game jackpot.

Kittanning

Sundays and Thursdays: The Armstrong County Historical Museum, 330 N. McKean St., will be open from 1 to 3 p.m. Other hours available by appointment. Free parking available behind the museum via the North Grant Avenue entrance. Details: 724-548-5707 or achgs300@gmail.com.

Leechburg 

Saturday: Leechburg Museum will open for the season from noon to 3 p.m. Hours will be noon to 3 p.m. Saturdays and Wednesdays.

New Kensington 

Saturday and Monday: The Community Clothes Closet, 1129 Kenneth Ave., will be closed for Memorial Day weekend. The closet will be open from noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 4. Items available include clothing for all members of the family, shoes and linens. First-time customers receive 15 free items. Summer clothing donations accepted during business hours.

Parks

Sunday: Parks Township Sportsman’s Club will host a country music jam night from 5 to 8 p.m. at the club, 1111 Shipman Road. Bring your favorite stringed instrument and sing along. Refreshments available. Public welcome. Details: 724-845-2390.

Springdale

June 4: “The Role of Quilts During Slavery,” with Ethel Hayden of Tarentum will be presented at 1 p.m. at Springdale Free Public Library, 331 School St. Reservations required. Reservations: 724-274-9729.

Tarentum

Vandergrift

Washington Township

Today: Washington Township Volunteer Fire Company will have bingo at 7 p.m. at the firehall, 4078 Route 66. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and sales start at 6 p.m. Free coffee. The kitchen will be open. Players must be at least 18 or accompanied by an adult.
