Daniels & McClain to play in Tarentum’s Riverview Memorial Park

Tarentum Summer Concert Series will feature the Daniels & McClain band at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Carl J. Magnetta Jr. Memorial Amphitheater in Riverview Memorial Park.

The Snack Shack opens at 6 p.m. The concerts are sponsored by Tarentum Recreation Board.


Summer camps offered at St. Joseph High School

St. Joseph High School, Harrison, is offering camps for students this summer at the school, 800 Montana Ave., Natrona Heights.

They are:

• Materials Science: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 19 to 22 for students in grades 5 to 8. Learn how different materials can be manipulated using basic science concepts. Cost: $95.

• Basketball: 9 a.m. to noon June 19 to 23 for boys and girls in first through fifth grade. Cost: $50.

• Art: 10 a.m. to noon June 26 to 30 for students in fourth through eighth grade. Cost: $50.

Volunteer help needed at Plum Community Center

Plum Community Center is looking for volunteers to help with lunch service and Meals on Wheels.

Congregate lunch servers are needed from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Fridays at the center, 499 Center New Texas Road.

Drivers for Meals on Wheels service are needed from 10:30 a.m. to noon Mondays or Fridays. Substitute drivers are also needed.

Tuesday: The Tomb, 1821 Fifth Ave., will serve a free lunch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Bible study and fellowship will be at 7 p.m. Details: 724-339-8888.

Tuesday: St. Vladimir Church, 1610 Kenneth Ave., will sponsor a bingo night. Doors open at 6 p.m. There is a $1,000 jackpot game with a $500 consolation prize. Pierogi, snacks, drinks, daubers and extra packages will be sold. Admission: $25.

Kiski Township

Saturday: Kiski Township Volunteer Fire Department will sponsor a bike show from 1 to 5 p.m. at the firehall, 1037 Route 56. Registration will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Awards will be given for first and second place in the following categories: custom, trike/3-wheeler, bobber/chopper, bagger, softtail, best in show and open. Entry fee: $10 per class per bike. There will be food, a basket raffle, small games of chance and a 50/50. Details: Mike, 724-664-4161.

Leechburg

June 10: Leechburg Volunteer Fire Company is accepting reservations for yard sale spaces in the firehall parking lot during the community yard sale event. Cost: $25. Reservations: Melissa, 724-332-9090.

Lower Burrell 

Tuesday: Peoples Library, 3052 Wachter Ave., will offer a story time for all ages at 1 p.m. at the library. Details: 724-339-1021.

Oct. 22: New Kensington Moose is accepting table reservations for a fall craft and vendor show planned for 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the lodge, 499 Reimer St. Spaces limited to one representative from each company on a first come, first served basis. New Kensington

Tuesday and Saturday: The Community Clothes Closet, 1129 Kenneth Ave., will be open from noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Items available include clothing for all members of the family, shoes and linens. First-time customers receive 15 free items. Summer clothing donations welcome during business hours.

Oakmont

Tuesdays: Taking Pounds Off Sensibly (TOPS) meets at 6 p.m. at Oakmont United Methodist Church, 419 Maryland Ave. Monthly dues: $5; first meeting is free. Details: vrevilla@pointpark.edu.

Tarentum 

Thursday : Alle-Kiski Valley Heritage Museum and History Center is accepting table reservations for an evening of scrapbooking planned from 6 to 8 p.m. at the museum, 224 E. Vandergrift 

Wednesday : Vandergrift Public Library is selling tickets for a basket raffle. The drawing for the seven-basket raffle will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday. Cost: five tickets, $3; 10 for $5; 15 for $10; and 25 for $15. Cash, check, Venmo and PayPal accepted. Tickets: stop in at the library, 128C Washington Ave.
