Musicians to perform on streets of Arnold

The Wandering Musicians of Arnold, a group of local volunteer musicians, will perform from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday from trucks on the streets of Arnold, weather permitting.

There will be an act at each location that will perform a set and then rotate to the next location.

Locations are Warren Street, Alcoa Drive at Richmond Street, Moore Street and Ridge Avenue, Mohawk Street at Seneca Avenue, Iroquis and Leishman avenues, Victoria Avenue and Rankin Street, McCandless Street and Leishman Avenue, Arnold Manor at Horne Blvd., Arnold Tower at Horne Blvd. and Third Avenue at 16th Street.

Social distancing rules should be followed, and residents can enjoy the music from their yard or porch.


Trylife Center offers free diapers

The Trylife Center, 1155 Wildlife Lodge Road, Lower Burrell, has diapers for parents in need.

Bell Volunteer Fire Department plans golf outing

The Bell Township Volunteer Fire Department golf outing will be Aug. 29 at the Apollo Elks Country Club, 151 Elks Lodge Road, Kiski Township.

The event will be a four-man scramble and the shotgun start will be at 8 a.m.

Cost is $70 per golfer and includes a cart, meal and drinks. There will be raffles.

Food collection planned Saturday in Vandergrift

Non-perishable food donations will be accepted from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Vandergrift First United Methodist Church, 134 Custer Ave., to benefit to New Hope Food Pantry at the church.

Drop off will be in the parking area on the Custer Avenue side of the church off the alley. Donors will not have to exit their vehicles.


Springdale Free Public Library planning summer reading and lunch programs

Springdale Free Public Library will offer free lunches for children 18 and younger from 11 a.m. to noon Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from June 29 to July 28 at the door 22 entrance of Springdale High School on Colfax Street.

Free summer reading Take and Make Craft kits with activities for a week will be distributed Mondays for children in sixth grade and younger. Those who are not getting lunch can pick up their kits on Mondays at the library, 331 School St.

Garbage pick-up will be delayed one day this week due to the Memorial Day holiday.

Freeport

June 2 and 5: The annual spring cleanup days have been rescheduled to be June 2 and June 5. Pickup on June 2 will be for Laneville, Locust Street, Stewart Street, Hickory Way, Buffalo Street, Washington Street, Franklin Street, Mill Street and Second Street Extension. June 5 will be for all other residents of the borough. All rubbish and junk items must be put out for collection the night before the scheduled pickup date. Details: 724-295-2251

Lower Burrell

Monday: Lower Burrell Council will conduct the agenda meeting at 7 p.m. partially by teleconference at city hall, 2800 Bethel St. Public participation through written comments is encouraged and preferred. Written comments should be sent via US Mail or emailed to colb@cityoflowerburrell.com by 4 p.m. Monday. The agenda will be posted on the city website and at the municipal building. Physical presence by the public will be limited and subject to 6-foot physical distancing. Those attending must wear a face mask. Those without issues requiring immediate attention are asked to refrain from physically attending. The public will not be admitted beyond capacity. June 20: The craft and vendor fair planned at Bell Township Volunteer Fire Hall is canceled.

Brackenridge

• The borough office is closed to the public, but is accepting telephone calls during normal business hours. Payments will be accepted by mail or through the mail slot.

Buffalo Township

Leechburg High School Class of 1953 Reunion planned in June is canceled.

Mondays: The GriefShare group sessions at First Evangelical Lutheran Church are postponed and will be rescheduled.

Lower Burrell

Bethesda Evangelical Lutheran Church: is closed for all activities and services.

New Kensington

Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church has canceled all Sunday services and church activities.

Peoples Library Book Sale is postponed indefinitely.

St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church is closed for all services, fundraisers and activities.

Mondays, Tuesday and Saturdays: The Community Clothes Closet will be closed.

Oakmont

June 15: The Oakmont 5K is canceled.

June 27 and 28: The annual Greek Food Festival sponsored by Church of the Holy Dormition Church is canceled.

Plum

Plum Community Center is closed and all events canceled. Meals on Wheels will continue as scheduled. Those over 60 who are food insecure or rely on the daily lunch can continue to pick up Congregant Lunch provided by the county on a take-out basis only. Pick-ups will be Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Lunches must be ordered a day in advance by calling 412-795-2330.

Oakmont

Riverview Community Action Corp. is closed for all activities except home delivered meals. Questions: 412-828-1062

Saxonburg

Sept. 12 and 13: The Saxonburg Festival of the Arts is canceled.

The weekly Mingle on Main events are canceled. Refunds will be sent to vendors who signed up.

Springdale

The annual Springdale Jubilee, parade and fireworks are canceled.

Springdale High School Alumni Association meetings are suspended until further notice. The Monte Carlo night planned for April 25 has been rescheduled to Oct. 3.

Sept. 12: Springdale Volunteer Fire Department has rescheduled the May Cash Bash to be Sept. 12. Current tickets will be honored in September and the Progressive 50/50 will be drawn. Please hold on to your tickets. The fire department thanks you for your understanding and support and urges everyone to stay safe.

Sept. 13: The Craft and Vendor fair is canceled.

Tarentum

July 3: The Summit Hose Independence Day fireworks are canceled.

BridgePoint Church: Activities at the church, including the grief support group, and the children’s food and fun event are canceled. A live stream of the Sunday church service will be on Facebook Live.

Tarentum Eagles is closed.

Tarentum Elks Lodge is closed.

Veterans of Foreign Wars is closed and there will be no Friday night bar bingo.
