Veterans outreach event planned June 9 in Apollo

State Representative Jason Silvis of the 55th Legislative District will host a veterans affairs outreach event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 9 at his office, 112 North Plaza, Apollo.

A Veterans of Foreign Wars Department service officer will help veterans, their spouses and family members. The officer will be able to obtain medals, certificates and ribbons, find and apply for a variety of VA benefits and file disability claims.

Free movie offered at Hartwood Acres

The free Allegheny County Movies in the Parks series at Hartwood Acres Amphitheater will begin the season at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday with, “Doolittle,” rated PG.

Gates open at 7 p.m. and the movie starts at dusk. Bring a blanket or a lawn chair.

Wednesday: The Wheel Good Wednesday food truck event sponsored by the Apollo Events Committee and Apollo Area Historical Society will be from 5 to 8 p.m. at the old Stanford lot on Clifford Avenue. Saturday: Arnold Volunteer Engine Co. will sponsor a drag queen bingo at 2 p.m. in the Arnold No. 2 Training and Social Hall, 1702 Fifth Ave. Doors open at noon. Butler County

Thursday: The National Alliance on Mental Illness of Butler County will offer a free online support group at 7 p.m. at Zoom.us for families and friends of those living with a mental illness. The group meets the at 7 p.m. the first Thursday and 5:30 p.m. the third Monday of each month. Reservations required. Reservations: 724-431-0069 or info@namibutler.org. Participants must confirm attendance by 3 p.m. the day of the meeting to receive a link to participate.

East Vandergrift 

June 20: Our Lady, Queen of Peace Parish is selling raffle tickets for whole pig raffle. The winner will receive a whole pig, a 20-cubic foot freezer, a $200 gift card to Locust Grove Country Shop, a $200 gift card to Rukas Beverage and a $100 gift card to the Vandergrift Fox’s Pizza Den. The winning number will be the 7 p.m. June 20 Pa. Daily Pick 3 number. Tickets are $10 for two numbers. Proceeds will benefit the parish operating budget. Wednesday: Allegheny Valley Association of Churches Food Bank will be open to anyone in need from 1:30 to 5 p.m. at 1913 Freeport Road, Natrona Heights. Pull into the center parking lot and food will be placed into your vehicle. Those who are not yet registered should come from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.

June 11 : St. Joseph High School is conducting an online basket raffle as part of the annual Spartan Scramble golf outing. New Kensington-Arnold School District

Springdale
