Dinner fundraiser to benefit lung transplant patient

A dinner to benefit Kiski Area High School sophomore Anna Shaffer and her family will be at 4 p.m. May 20 at the Parks Township Firehall, 1119 Dalmation Drive.

Shaffer, 16, is recovering from influenza A and double pneumonia. She is waiting for a double lung transplant and is a patient in the pediatric intensive care unit at UPMC Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh.

Cost is $10. The menu includes seafood pasta, rigatoni, meatball subs, fried chicken, green beans, bread and butter, side salad and a serve-yourself snack bar with a variety of dips and chips, veggie trays and sliders. Leechburg Gridiron Club plans golf fundraiser

The Leechburg Gridiron Club will sponsor golf outing June 17 at the Links at Spring Church, 3257 Brenhaven Lane, Kiski Township.

The shotgun start will be at 1 p.m. Cost is $100 per player and includes golf and a catered dinner. Checks made out to Leechburg Gridiron Club with players’ names can be sent to R. Walters, 920 Wildlife Lodge Road, Unit 309, Lower Burrell PA 15068.

Brackenridge

Wednesday: Al-Anon will meet at 8 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, 847 10th Ave. The group offers help and hope for families and friends of alcoholics.

Freeport

Tuesday: The monthly Freeport Day community celebration will be from 5 to 8 p.m. in the borough. Shops, restaurants, churches and the library will be open, and organizations will participate. The Thrift Store at First United Methodist Church will be open.

Wednesday: The Thrift Store Clothing Ministry at Freeport United Methodist Church, 211 Fourth St., will be open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday evening hours have been discontinued. All items are free, but donations will be accepted. Items available include clothing of all sizes, bedding and window items. Donations of clothing, shoes and boots welcome. Harrison

Wednesday: The Friends of Harrison Hills Park group will meet at 10 a.m. in the park Environmental Learning Center. Public welcome.

Wednesday: Faith Lutheran Church, 1500 Broadview Blvd., will host a Becky’s Closet community clothing store from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church. Clothing available at very low cost. Donations welcome during this time.

Wednesday: Allegheny Valley Association of Churches Food Bank will be open from 1:30 to 5 p.m. at 1913 Freeport Road, Natrona Heights. Wednesday: The Agape Thrift Shop at Grace United Methodist Church, 1333 Freeport Road, will be open from 1 to 4 p.m. Clean spring and summer clothing in all sizes is needed. No housewares or bedding please due to lack of space. Bring donations on Wednesday or leave them on the front porch. Do not place donations in the blue bins behind the church.
