Food drive to benefit Rosedale Food Pantry

Lori Hummel of Howard Hanna Real Estate, Oakmont, will host a Thanksgiving food drive through Nov. 16 at Rev 22 Powered by Salud Juicery, 527 Allegheny Ave., Oakmont.

Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. Please wear a face mask when you stop in to donate.

Most need items include flour, sugar, canned pumpkin, vegetables, fruit and sweet potatoes, boxed stuffing mix, cranberry sauce, turkey gravy, baking spices and pie filling. Collected items will be given to the Rosedale Food Pantry that serves over 700 families in Oakmont, Verona, Plum and Penn Hills. For questions, call Hummel at 412-287-1739.

Annual Turkey Trot planned Nov. 26

The Kiski Valley Turkey Trot 5K Race to benefit Kiski Area Youth Network will be Thanksgiving, Nov. 26 at Kunkle Park, 985 Pine Run Church Road, Washington Township.

There will be two 5K on-site time slots. The course is an out and back loop on a country road and begins and ends in Kunkle Park. Runners in the two heats will be separated by distance to comply with public health rules. Both races will be timed and overall winners will be awarded. There will be no same day in-person registration. Packet pickups will be available the evening of Nov. 25 and the morning of the race. Participants will be asked to wear masks prior to the start of the race.

Prepackaged snacks and water will be handed out after the race. Volunteers will be present to assist and give directions. There will be no awards ceremony on site.

A virtual 5K race is available that you can run anywhere and anytime in November. Packets and t-shirts for virtual participants will be mailed to arrive on or before Thanksgiving.

Food bank seeking volunteers

Allegheny Valley Association of Churches is seeking volunteers to help unload the delivery truck on two Wednesday mornings per month. For details, call Jayne at 724-226-0606, ext. 18.
