Comedy night to benefit Markle fire chief

Markle Volunteer Fire Department, Allegheny Township, will have a comedy night fundraiser at 8 p.m. Nov. 20 at the firehall, 470 Joyce St. Proceeds will benefit department Chief Melvin “Jimmy” Rearick who was recently diagnosed with lung cancer.

Doors open at 6 p.m. and dinner will be served at 6:30. BYOB Performers will include Joey Purse, Karl Prohaska and Marcus Cox. Admission is $25, adults only. For reservations, call Joyce at 724-681-8467or visit marklevfd.square.site.


Meals On Wheels volunteers needed

Celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, Highlands Meals On Wheels is seeking volunteers to deliver food on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays to local residents.

Springdale chiropractic clinic hosts food drive

Frazetta Family Chiropractic’s 28th annual Thanksgiving food drive for Lower Valley Food Bank will be accepting donations through Friday.

Thanksgiving dinner food items, paper products and monetary donations for the food bank will be accepted at the office at 846 Pittsburgh St., Springdale. Hours are 8:30 a.m. to noon today and Friday and 3 to 6 p.m. Thursday. For questions, call 724-274-9440.
