Letters from Santa offered by Vandergrift Public Library

Vandergrift Public Library will send your child a personalized letter from Santa Claus for a $5 donation to the library.

Knead Community Café accepting donations

Knead Community Café, New Kensington, is accepting donations to help the daily operation of the café, 1011 Barnes St.

Items on the café’s wish list include: Clorox wipes, gallon containers of white vinegar, disposable latex or nitrile gloves size large or extra-large, white premium napkins, 6x6-inch or 9x9-inch single compartment Styrofoam hinged takeout containers, foil sheet wraps, instant iced mix with lemon and sugar, Fabuloso lavender multipurpose cleaner, and Sam’s Club gift cards.

Donations will be accepted during business hours 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays.


Animal Protectors seeking donations for new windows

Animal Protectors of Allegheny Valley is continuing to remodel and prepare to open at the new location in New Kensington.

New windows are needed before the site can open. Total cost will be $42,041. Donations are welcome.

Today: Allegheny Valley Association of Churches Food Bank will be open to anyone in need from 1:30 to 5:30 p.m. at 1913 Freeport Road, Natrona Heights. Pull into the center parking lot and food will be placed into your vehicle. Senior boxes are now being distributed Wednesdays instead of Thursdays. New Kensington

Today through Friday: Members of the Eagles will celebrate the club anniversary at the aerie, 2134 Freeport Road. A free spaghetti dinner for members and their families will be at 4 p.m. today. A Monte Carlo night with free fish sandwiches will be Friday. Face masks required in the aerie and social distancing will be observed. Indoor and outdoor seating will be available.

Today: Animal Protectors of Allegheny Valley will host a virtual Bow Wow Meow Bingo at 7 p.m. online at Zoom.us. Cost: $25 for one card; $5 for each additional card for 10 games. Sunday: Knead Community Café is conducting an online basket raffle through Sunday on the café website www.kneadcommunitycafe.org. Proceeds will help sustain café operations and its mission to feed all regardless of means.

Thursday: Free food and Eat N Park meals will be given out from 11:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tuesdays. Eat N Park meals will be distributed at the same time Thursdays. Free fabric face masks from Hanes will be available on both days. Distributions will be in the East Fourth Avenue parking lot beside Central Presbyterian Church, 305 Allegheny St. No registration is required for either event.
