Musical food drive to benefit Allegheny Valley Association of Churches Food Bank

“Will Sing for Food,” a food drive to benefit the Allegheny Valley Association of Churches food bank, will be from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Natrona Heights Veterans of Foreign Wars, 894 Veterans Drive, Harrison.

The entertainment schedule includes: Cellar Dwellers at 1 p.m., Sawyer Stepp at 1:40 p.m., The Shiners at 2:45 p.m., Mike “Taco” Evans at 4 p.m. and Up the River band at 4:40 p.m.

Admission is at least one non-perishable item for the food bank and includes hotdogs, sloppy joes, chips and pretzels. The VFW will sell beverages.

Red Kettle 5K to benefit Salvation Army

Allegheny Valley Salvation Army Corps and Community Center will sponsor a Red Kettle 5K Run and Walk Saturday at the center, 917 Brackenridge Ave., Brackenridge.

Registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. and a Kids 1-Mile Fun Run will be at 8:30 a.m. The 5K Run/Walk will begin at 9 a.m. A pancake breakfast for all participants will be at 9:30 a.m.

Entry fee is $20 for the 5K Run/Walk and $15 for the Kids 1-Mile Fun Run. To register, visit salvationarmywpa.org/rkr. Proceeds will benefit the 2020 Christmas Kettle Goal.

Financial fraud seminar planned in New Kensington

New Kensington Center for Active Adults, 1039 Third Ave., will offer a free lecture, “Responding to Financial Fraud and Exploitation,” from 10:30 a.m. to noon Friday at the center.

A panel of local experts from Fighting for Seniors, a coalition of representatives from the Westmoreland Bar Association, Westmoreland Bar Foundation, the Blackburn Center, United Way of Southwestern Pennsylvania and S&T Bank will discuss the financial risks that seniors are confronted with every day.

Thanksgiving luncheon slated at Burrell High School

Burrell High School Student Government Annual Senior Citizen Thanksgiving Luncheon for district residents with valid Senior Citizen Blue and White cards will be at 1 p.m. Nov. 21 in the high school cafeteria.

For reservations, call 724-334-1403, ext. 2045, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Reservation deadline is Friday. Only 200 reservations will be accepted.

Spaghetti dinner to benefit epilepsy patient

Money raised will be used to get a service dog to help alert an adult when she is having a seizure. Cost is $8, and children younger than 12, $5. For tickets, call or text Nathan at 724-393-7948.

‘Taste of Kiski’ to benefit Kiski Area band, color guard

“Taste of Kiski,” an evening of beer and wine tasting to benefit the Kiski Area band and guard programs, will be from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday at West Leechburg Firemen’s Recreation Hall, 1116 Gosser St., West Leechburg.

Beer will be by Conny Creek Brewing Company and wine by Wooden Door Winery. Entertainment will be provided by the 56 East Band and Oktoberfest appetizers will be served. Dress is business casual and those attending must be at least 21 years old.

Donations being accepted for holiday vouchers

Allegheny Valley Association of Churches is accepting donations to help with the food bank turkey voucher distribution.

To donate, send a check with “Thanksgiving” in the memo to Allegheny Valley Association of Churches, 1913 Freeport Road, Natrona Heights, PA 15065. All donations will be acknowledged.
