Stuff a Cruiser event set at Harrison Walmart

A Stuff a Cruiser event to benefit Toys for Tots will be from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at the Walmart Supercenter in Highlands Mall, Harrison.

Monetary donations and new unwrapped toys will be accepted by Southern Armstrong Regional Police and Harrison Police.


Model train display planned at Appleby Manor Presbyterian Church

The 32nd annual model train display at Appleby Manor Presbyterian Church, 810 Main St., Manor Township, will open this weekend.

Hours will be 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, 6 to 8 p.m. Monday through Nov. 24 and 2 to 6 p.m. Nov. 25.

The exhibit features operating model trains of N, HO, O, 027, S and On30 gauges and large Lego displays. Admission is either canned goods or a monetary donation that will be donated to the Ford City Food Bank.

Food collection to benefit local families in need

Vandergrift Police Department is conducting its Feed the Families Project through Saturday.

Non-perishable food items and monetary contributions will be accepted from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the borough building, 109 Grant Ave., in care of Officer Joseph Gray.

Items collected will be distributed to residents who need help to put a meal on the table on Thanksgiving Day.

Friday: Alle-Kiski Day Quilters and Sewers will meet from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Allegheny Township municipal building, 136 Community Building Road. Bring your project. No dues or fees. Brackenridge

Today: Bingo will begin at 7:15 p.m. at the American Legion, 845 First Ave.

Gilpin 

Today: Gilpin Volunteer Fire Department will host bingo at 7:15 p.m. at the firehall, 113 Firehall Road.

Harrison

Friday: Natrona Heights Veterans of Foreign Wars will have bingo at 7 p.m. at the post, 894 Veterans Lane. Doors open at 6 p.m., and there will be specials, a 50-50 raffle and final game jackpot.

Friday: The Veterans of Foreign Wars will feature The Cool Change Band from 8 to 11 p.m. at the post, 894 Veterans Drive. No cover charge. Public welcome.

Saturday: Building Block of Natrona will host its free Veggies for All and Cosmetics Closet outreach for residents in need at 1 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 28 Garfield St., Natrona. Free produce and personal care and hygiene products will be distributed, first come, first served, while supplies last. Arrive by 12:30 p.m. to line up; supplies go quickly. No income verification required. Everyone is welcome.

Jefferson

Today: Bingo will be at 6:30 p.m. at the American Legion, 754 N. Pike Road. Doors open at 5 p.m. The kitchen will be open. Proceeds benefit post and auxiliary projects.

Kiski Township

Saturday: A craft and vendor show to benefit the Apollo-Ridge Middle School PTA field trips will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Kiski Township Volunteer Firehall, 1037 Route 56. Admission: $3. There will be door prizes, a silent auction, food and a bake sale.

Leechburg

Saturday: Cross Roads Community Presbyterian Church will have its free takeout monthly Pot Love Dinner at noon at the church, 271 Main St. Reservations required. Lower Burrell

Springdale

Today: Lower Valley Community Food Bank will distribute food from 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday from the rear entrance of the Springdale borough building, 325 School St. Do not arrive before 12:45 p.m. Anyone in need of food who lives in Springdale, Springdale Township, Cheswick, Harmar and the sections of Indiana Township and West Deer with a zip code of 15024 is welcome. Saturday: The Knotty Knitters group at Springdale Free Public Library will meet at noon at the library, 331 School St. The group will now meet the first and third Saturdays of the month. Saturday: A cash bash to help fund the Kiski Area High School production of its spring musical “The Phantom of the Opera” will be from 6 to 10 p.m. at The Center on Franklin Avenue, 262 Franklin Ave. Cost: $25, includes entry into the drawings, a drink coupon and light refreshments. Dec. 31: Vandergrift Public Library is conducting a 100,000 penny collection challenge through the end of the year. Bring your pennies to the library, 128C Washington Ave., or TinyCause or Champion’s Crusaders Rescue. Funds raised will be split between the three organizations.

Washington Township

West Deer
