Cub Scouts to collect blankets for homeless veterans
Cub Scout Pack 556 Wolf Den will host a drive to collect new or gently-used blankets for homeless veterans from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Lower Burrell Veterans of Foreign Wars, 1601 Wildlife Lodge Road.

Allegheny Valley Hospital Auxiliary to host annual Christmas Market
Allegheny Valley Hospital Auxiliary will sponsor a Christmas market from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday and Tuesday in the hospital side cafeteria, 1301 Carlisle St., Harrison.
Vendors will include Popcorn Envy, Linda McCardle’s Jewelry Collection, Magnolia and Vine, Memory Boards Unlimited, Oakmont Olive Oil Co., Pink Zebra and more.
A portion of proceeds will benefit auxiliary projects.
Kiski Valley Turkey Trot to aid youth group
The Kiski Valley Turkey Trot 5K Race and 1 Mile Fun Walk to benefit Kiski Area Youth Network will be Thanksgiving, Nov. 28 at Kunkle Park, 985 Pine Run Church Road, Washington Township.
Serious and casual runners and walkers of all ages are welcome to participate. Race day registration will be at 7:30 a.m. The 5K race will be digitally timed and begins at 9 a.m. The course is an out and back loop on a country road and begins and ends in Kunkle Park.
The 1-mile Fun Walk will not be timed and takes place on an easy open trail within the park. It will begin at 9:05 a.m. Come dressed in your favorite Thanksgiving costume. Prizes will be given for the best costumes.
