Santa needs help: You can ‘adopt’ a senior for Christmas
Concordia Lutheran Ministries has again opened its Adopt-A-Resident Program to the community.
Individuals, businesses or congregations may call the facility of their choice to “adopt” a resident and give him or her Christmas gifts. Gift suggestions include a sweatshirt, sweatpants, door wreath, stamps and stationery, digital clocks with large numbers, hair salon gift certificates and slippers and slipper socks. Monetary contributions are also welcome.

Annual Christmas for Vets event planned Dec. 9
Five Forces will host its eighth annual Christmas for Veterans event Dec. 9 at the Lower Burrell Veterans of Foreign Wars, 1601 Wildlife Lodge Road.
Doors open at 5 p.m. Dinner will be served and there will be entertainment, drinks, raffles, merchandise and prizes. Attendees must show DD214 paperwork, current military ID or proper discharge paperwork. Tickets are free for veterans and current military. Guest tickets are $25 each, plus drinks.

Dec. 9: Apollo Memorial Library will host a free visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus event at the library, 219 N. Dec. 2: Homemade doughnuts will be sold from 6 to 10 a.m. at Calvary Lutheran Church, 1721 Victoria Ave. Cost: $8 per dozen. This will be the last doughnut sale. Today: Natrona Heights Veterans of Foreign Wars will have bingo at 7 p.m. at the post, 894 Veterans Lane. Doors open at 6 p.m., and there will be specials, a 50-50 raffle and final game jackpot.

West Deer
Dec. 16: Deer Lakes Cheer Boosters will host Donuts with Santa for children who are at least 4 years old from 10 a.m. to noon at Deer Lakes High School cafeteria. Cost: $30 per child. Children will be signed in and out. Do not arrive before 9:45 a.m. There will be doughnuts, juice, a craft and photos with Santa.
