Boy Scouts to sell Christmas trees in Allegheny Township
Boy Scout Troop 551 of Hyde Park is conducting its annual Christmas tree sale at Stanford Home Center, 1173 Route 356, Allegheny Township.
Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Black Friday, 4 to 8 p.m. weekdays, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sundays through Dec. 21, or until the trees are all sold. Types of trees available include Douglas fir, Frasier fir, concolor fir, Canaan fir, grand fir, Norway spruce, blue spruce and Siberian spruce. Prices begin at $35.
Proceeds will benefit Scouting activities.
Community Library of Allegheny Valley plans virtual cookie exchange
Community Library of Allegheny Valley is sponsoring a virtual Christmas cookie exchange.
Cookie recipes and a photo if possible should be sent to mcintyret@einetwork.net by Dec. 9. Recipes will be shared in a printable Christmas cookie cookbook in PDF format. Those who submit a recipe will receive a free cookie cookbook. For details, visit alleghenyvalleylibrary.org.
NK fire department to collect for Salvation Army
Members of the New Kensington Volunteer Fire Department will conduct a fill the boot drive collection for the Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Campaign from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 5 to 8:30 p.m. Friday on Tarentum Bridge Road in the city.

Dec. 13: Leechburg Elks will have a vendor bingo at 1 p.m. at the lodge, 228 Market St. Doors open at noon. Admission: $20, includes 11 games with vendor prizes and one $250 must-go jackpot game. Food and beverages will be sold and there will be a silent auction, 50/50 raffle and small games of chance. Players must be at least 18 years old.
