Boy Scouts to sell Christmas trees in Allegheny Township

Boy Scout Troop 551 of Hyde Park is conducting its annual Christmas tree sale beginning Friday at Stanford Home Center, 1173 Route 356, Allegheny Township.

Hours will be 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, 4 to 8 p.m. weekdays, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sundays through Dec. 21, or until the trees are all sold. Types of trees available include Frasier fir, concolor fir, Canaan fir, grand fir, Norway spruce, blue spruce, Siberian spruce and white pine. Prices begin at $25.

Proceeds will benefit Scouting activities.


HOPE Center seeks support for Adopt-A-Family program

The HOPE Center is seeking support for its annual Adopt-A-Family Christmas Program to benefit HOPE Center families.

This program is recommended for individuals, families, community groups, businesses, churches, schools, or anyone looking to do something for those in need and give back to their community and is easy, convenient, and designed to meet any budget. Items can be returned to the HOPE Center or arrangements can be made for pick up.

If you are interested in “adopting a family” to buy Christmas items for this year, call the administrative office at 724-224-1100 to request a family size and wish list.

Vandergrift

Dec. 6: Vandergrift Public Library is raffling a Christmas quilt made and donated by library patron Jane Strohm to benefit the library. Cost: $1 each or $5 for an arm’s length. The drawing will be Dec. 6. Tickets: stop in at the library, 128C Washington Ave.

Upper Burrell

Dec. 7: The Upper Burrell Senior Citizens Holiday Luncheon will be at 1 p.m. at the Alcoa Lab Lodge, 245 Frary Lane. Reservations required by Saturday. Seniors must live in Upper Burrell. Reservations: 724-337-8004
