Holiday weekend planned in Vandergrift

The Vandergrift Back When Holiday Extravaganza will be Friday, Saturday and Sunday in downtown Vandergrift.

There will be a petting zoo, horse-drawn carriage rides, a scavenger hunt, a 5K race, a holiday market, caroling, entertainment and basket raffles. A parade will be at 6 p.m. Friday. For a schedule, visit vandergriftbackwhen.com.

Leechburg Rotary to collect pajamas, children’s books

The Rotary Club of Leechburg and Leechburg Area High School Interact Club are sponsoring the Pajama Project collection through Dec. 14 in the Leechburg area.

Donations of new pajamas for men, women and children in all sizes, men’s sleep pants and new children’s books will be accepted at the following locations: Kalmar Motors, Christ the King Church and Hunt’s Hill Top, all in Gilpin; and Goat Donut Shoppe, Quarato’s Hardware, Leechburg Public Library, Marconi Club, Leechburg Pizza and First Methodist Church.

Monetary donations may be sent to the Rotary Club of Leechburg, P.O. Box 163, Leechburg PA 15656. Donations will be sent to HAVIN, Children Youth and Families of Armstrong County and the Mechling-Shakley Veterans Center.

Plum to welcome Santa at new municipal complex

Christmas at Plum Creek will be from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Dec. 1 in the Plum Municipal Complex, 2000 Old Mine Road.

There is no parking at the event site. Free shuttles will be available beginning at 5 p.m. in the lower lot at Plum High School; at St. John the Baptist Church, 444 St. John St.; and Amplify Church, 9400 Saltsburg Road. There will be children’s games and crafts, free hot chocolate, live reindeer, food trucks, music and the arrival of Santa.

Fall play to be presented at Burrell High School

Burrell High School Theatre Company will present their fall play, “Once In a Lifetime,” at 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday in the high school auditorium, Puckety Church Road, Lower Burrell.

Dec. 6: Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish is selling tickets for a St. Nicholas Day raffle.
