Free groceries available for local veterans
Westmoreland County Marines will provide Christmas groceries to local veterans’ families in need.
Registration is required. To register, call Jim Walters at 724-681-6293 or email waltersusmc@comcast.net with full name, address, telephone number, type of discharge and branch of service.
Funds for the project come from local residents and businesses. To make a financial donation, mail a check payable to Westmoreland County Marines, in care of Jim Walters, 176 Hilltop Drive, Lower Burrell PA 15068.
Lower Valley Ambulance to host Stuff-A-Bus campaign
A stuff-a-bus collection will be Dec. 1 to 16 at Lower Valley Ambulance Station, 1201 Freeport Road, Cheswick.
The ambulance will be outside and donations should be taken to the front door at any time 24/7 during the drive. Items needed include toys, clothes and non-perishable food.
Drug take-back box located at Allegheny Valley Hospital
Allegheny Valley Hospital in Harrison offers a convenient and secure location to dispose of unused or expired medications.
A take-back box is located in the main lobby of the hospital, 1301 Carlisle St. Medications that will be accepted include Schedule II-V controlled substances, over-the-counter medications and pet meds. Schedule I controlled substances, illegal drugs, thermometers, aerosol cans, inhalers, needles, lotions, liquids and hydrogen peroxide are not accepted.
