Clothing, household collection to benefit women in need
Women of Alle-Kiski Engaging, a division of the Alle Kiski Strong Chamber, is collecting new, unused items through Nov. 15 for local women in need.
Articles being collected include over the counter medication for adults and children, pajamas for women, boys and girls in all sizes, women’s underwear in all sizes, $10 gasoline gift cards, and kitchen items such as cutting boards, pots and pans, utensils, dishes and baking sheets. Donations will be given to HAVIN Domestic Violence Shelter in Armstrong County and the Alle-Kiski Area HOPE Center Inc.
Drop-off locations include River Forest, Allegheny Township; Goosehead Insurance, Saxonburg; Merle Norman Cosmetics, Tarentum, and Minuteman Press, Allegheny Township. For more locations, click here.
Salvation Army offers free lunches
The Allegheny Valley Salvation Army and Community Center in Brackenridge offers free grab and go lunches from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursdays in parking lot at the center, 917 Brackenridge Ave.
Veterans Leadership Program offers clothing to veterans
The Veterans Leadership Program will sponsor, “Suits for Veterans,” from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 18 at the center, 2934 Smallman St., Pittsburgh.
Gently used professional attire for men and women veterans will be available. Reservations are required.

Lower Burrell Veterans Day parade seeks participants
The Lower Burrell Veterans of Foreign Wars will sponsor the annual Veterans Day parade at 11 a.m. Nov. 11 on Leechburg Road in the city.
Groups who would like to participate should call Commander Lee Johnson at 724-882-4195 as soon as possible.
