Apollo-Ridge Area Food Bank seeks donations
November is Turkey Month at Apollo-Ridge Area Food Bank.
The food bank is seeking donations to help provide grocery gift certificates for Christmas dinner for Apollo-area families in need.

Christmas event planned for veterans and military members
Five Forces will host its annual Christmas for Veterans event Dec. 14 at the School House Hall, 171 Thorn St., Oklahoma Borough.
Doors open at 5 p.m. and dinner will be served at 6. There will be a DJ, a basket raffle and giveaways.
All veterans and current members of the military are welcome. Veterans must show DD214 paperwork, current military ID or proper discharge paperwork. Tickets are free for veterans and current military. Guest tickets are $20 each.

Wine and beer tasting event to benefit Kiski band programs
“Taste of Kiski,” an evening of beer and wine tasting to benefit the Kiski Area band and guard programs, will be from 7 to 10 p.m. Nov. 16 West Leechburg Firemen’s Recreation Hall, 1116 Gosser St., West Leechburg.
Beer will be by Conny Creek Brewing Company and wine by Wooden Door Winery. Entertainment will be provided by the 56 East Band and Oktoberfest appetizers will be served. Dress is business casual and those attending must be at least 21 years old.

Leechburg Library to sponsor Star Baker contest
Leechburg Public Library will sponsor a Star Baker Contest Nov. 17 as part of a spaghetti dinner fundraiser at the Marconi Club, 135 River Ave., Leechburg.
Any type of baked goods may be entered – pies, cakes, scones, cupcakes, nut rolls or whatever your specialty is. Create two of the same entry – one will be blind judged by a panel of judges and the other will become part of a baked goods raffle. The winner will receive $100, and a Star Baker apron.
Bring your entries by 11 a.m. Nov. 17 to the Marconi Club. For alternative arrangements on Nov. 17, call Karen Freilino at 724-845-0976 or 412-926-9515.
The spaghetti dinner will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Tickets are $8 and are available at Coco Coffeehouse, the library, the borough office, Gifted Garden and from member of Friends of the Library. Proceeds will benefit the library. For more details, visit Leechburg Public Library on Facebook.
