Food drive to benefit Rosedale Food Pantry
Lori Hummel of Howard Hanna Real Estate, Oakmont, will host a Thanksgiving food drive from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at REV22 Juice and Wellness Bar, 527 Allegheny Ave., Oakmont.
Most need items include flour, sugar, canned pumpkin, vegetables, fruit and sweet potatoes, boxed stuffing mix, cereal and monetary donations for turkeys and hams. Collected items be given to the Rosedale Food Pantry that serves over 700 families in Oakmont, Verona, Plum and Penn Hills.
Astronomers plan special Star Party
Amateur Astronomers of Pittsburgh will host a special Mercury Transit Star Party from 7:30 a.m. to 1:35 p.m. Monday in the Nicholas E. Wagman Observatory, 225 Kurn Road, in Deer Lakes Regional Park, Frazer, weather permitting.
If the weather is clear, visitors will have an opportunity to watch the planet Mercury pass in front of the sun. The event can only be viewed through a properly filtered telescope. Amateur astronomers, students and the general public are welcome.
Members will be available to answer questions about buying a telescope or binoculars for the holiday. Donations will be accepted. For information, visit 3ap.org.
Orders being accepted for AFS citrus fruit sale
Orders are being taken for the annual Highlands High School AFS citrus fruit sale.
Fruit available includes large and small boxes of California navel oranges and ruby red grapefruit, tangelos, clementines, pears, apples, pineapples and mixed boxes.

Today: A craft and vendor show to benefit the Highlands Varsity Marching Band will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the high school cafeteria and gymnasium. There will be over 70 vendors, a basket raffle and 50/50 raffle. Admission: $1
