Turkey Trot to aid youth group
The Kiski Valley Turkey Trot 5K Race to benefit Kiski Area Youth Network will be Thanksgiving, Nov. 26 at Kunkle Park, 985 Pine Run Church Road, Washington Township.
There will be two 5K on-site time slots. The course is an out and back loop on a country road and begins and ends in Kunkle Park. Runners in the two heats will be separated by distance to comply with public health rules. Both races will be timed and overall winners will be awarded. There will be no same day in-person registration. Packet pickups will be available the evening of Nov. 25 and the morning of the race. Participants will be asked to wear masks prior to the start of the race.
Pre-packaged snacks and water will be handed out after the race. Volunteers will be present to assist and give directions. There will be no awards ceremony onsite.
A virtual 5K race is available that you can run anywhere and anytime in November. Packets and t-shirts for virtual participants will be mailed to arrive on or before Thanksgiving.

Vandergrift Area Meals On Wheels seeks volunteers
Vandergrift Area Meals On Wheels is looking for regular and substitute volunteers to help with food cooking, serving, packing and delivery.
The program serves East Vandergrift, Parks Township, Allegheny Township, Hyde Park, West Leechburg and Vandergrift. Drivers with knowledge of these communities are especially needed.

PennDOT announces bridge closure in Bell
PennDOT crews will close the Salina Bridge on Route 1060, also known as Bridge Street, in Bell this week.
The closure will begin Monday and continue until Nov. 12, weather permitting. Crews will perform maintenance on the bridge including deck repairs and steel repairs. All work will be done on as weather permits.
A marked detour will be in place. Motorists should expect delays and drive with caution in this area.
Prospect Cemetery offers tour booklets
Because the annual Prospect Cemetery Ghost Tours were canceled this due to the covid-19 pandemic, the cemetery is selling a 40-page booklet with photos and history of the cemetery.

Penn State Extension offers community leadership webinar
Penn State Extension will offer a webinar, “Cultivating Community Leadership: Creating A Powerful Team,” from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Oct. 23 online.
Topics will include cultivating your leadership values, managing for trust, enhancing your mentoring toolbox, growing a powerful team and creativity, innovation and leadership.
