Salvation Army seeks Red Kettle volunteers

The Western Pennsylvania division of the Salvation Army is seeking volunteers to help in the annual Red Kettle Campaign.

Red kettles will be placed at local retailers beginning in November. Physical kettle locations will offer Google and Apple Pay options to provide a safe, contactless option for the public to donate.

Volunteer bell ringers will be required to follow covid-19 safety guidelines and will receive training on how to safely perform their duties and engage with the public. To offer your time, call the New Kensington center at 724-335-7221 or the Allegheny Valley center in Brackenridge at 724-224-6310.

Drive-through food distribution set for Tuesday at Pittsburgh Mills

Allegheny Valley Association of Churches and the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank will host a drive-thru food distribution for anyone in need from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Tuesday in parking lot of the former JC Penney store at the Galleria at Pittsburgh Mills, Frazer.

Reservations are required by 5 p.m. Monday to ensure enough food is available. To make a reservation, visit pittsburghfoodbank.org/drive-up/Allegheny-valley or call 412-460-3663, ext. 655. You will need your name, email, zip code, email address, current weekly income and license plate number for the car that will pick up the food.
