Fundraising gala to benefit Apollo Memorial Library

Apollo Memorial Library will sponsor a fundraising gala, “Bond with Our Library,” Nov. 8 at the Links and Spring Church, 3257 Balsiger Road, Kiski Township.

Cocktails and charcuterie will be served at 4:30 p.m. and a prime rib or chicken dinner will be at 6 p.m. There will be a silent auction, Pittsburgh cookie table and casino games.

Marine Corps to celebrate 250th anniversary

The Westmoreland County Marines Detachment will host a Marine Corps 250th birthday ball Nov. 8 at the Lower Burrell Veterans of Foreign Wars, 1601 Wildlife Lodge Road, Lower Burrell.

There will be a buffet dinner, silent auction, speakers, award presentations, a 50-50 and dancing to DJ Clem. Cost is $40. Attire is formal and paid reservations are required. Christmas sign-ups to continue through Nov. 7 in Armstrong County

The Kittanning Salvation Army is taking applications for Christmas assistance by appointment Mondays through Thursdays through Nov. 7 at the center, 205 S. Jefferson St.

Children must be 12 or younger and live in Armstrong County. Documents required at the appointment include the parent’s photo ID, proof of income and expenses, and a birth certificate, clothing, shoe sizes and three toy wishes for each child.

Oct. 18: An 80s Bingo will be hosted by Apollo-Ridge High School Marching Band Boosters at 6 p.m. at Kiski Township Volunteer Firehall, 1037 Route 56. Oct. 25: Grace Community Presbyterian Church, 2751 Grant St., will sponsor a spaghetti dinner fundraiser and silent auction from 4 to 7 p.m. to benefit Operation Christmas Child.
