Donations being accepted for holiday turkey vouchers

Allegheny Valley Association of Churches is accepting donations to help with the food bank turkey voucher distribution.

Vouchers will be given out during November at the regular drive-thru food distributions in the association parking lot in Harrison. Free winter coats will also be available.

To contribute, send a check with “Thanksgiving” in the memo to Allegheny Valley Association of Churches, 1913 Freeport Road, Natrona Heights, PA 15065. All donations will be acknowledged.


Halloween bingo to aid Paws Across Pittsburgh

A Halloween bingo to benefit Paws Across Pittsburgh will be from 7 to 10 p.m. Oct. 25 at the Brackenridge American Legion, 845 E. First Ave.

Doors open at 6 p.m. Tickets are $30, and include regular games and a set of specials. There will be a costume contest, basket raffle, soft drinks and a cash bar.

Table sponsorships are available for $50. Table sponsors can decorate their table, share business cards and giveaways, have a custom sign and early entry at 5 p.m. to set up. For tickets visit pawsacrosspittsburgh.com/events.

Sunday: The township farmers market will be open from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the lot at Kiski Plaza Garden and Feed Center, 991 S. Leechburg Hill Road.

Thursday: The Alle-Kiski Chapter of the American Wine Society will meet at 7 p.m. at River Forest Country Club, 130 Club House Drive. Harrison 

Today: The Diaper Pantry at Christ Our Hope Anglican Church will distribute diapers from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church, 926 Painter Ave., and at Sheldon Park, both in Natrona Heights. Recipients must drive up and remain in their vehicles. First-time recipients must provide their own identification, the child’s birth certificate and a current WIC or SNAP card.

Wagon rides will be available for a donation to the Trail. Bring a chair and ingredients to make your own s’mores. A hot dog vendor will be available.

Oct. 18: An 80s Bingo will be hosted by Apollo-Ridge High School Marching Band Boosters at 6 p.m. at Kiski Township Volunteer Firehall, 1037 Route 56.
