Vote for your favorite pumpkin at Community Library of Allegheny Valley

The staff at Community Library of Allegheny Valley, 1522 Broadview Blvd., Harrison, decorated book-themed pumpkins and is asking the public to stop in the library lobby during operating hours and vote for their favorite.

Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Visits in the library are by appointment only.

The winner will be announced on Halloween.

Outdoor concert planned by Fox Chapel Area HS orchestra

Fox Chapel Area High School Orchestra will present an outdoor fall concert at 3:30 p.m. Sunday in Riverfront Park, 285 River Ave., Aspinwall.

Those attending are encouraged to wear a costume.

Band Blast concert planned Sunday canceled

The Band Blast concert set for Sunday in Memorial Park, New Kensington, is canceled due to the increase in covid-19 cases and other issues.

Organizers hope to see everyone next year.

Feline spay and neuter clinic planned in West Deer

Conquer the Colony will host a mobile spay and neuter clinic for cats by appointment Tuesday at Deer Lakes Community Church of the Nazarene, 1839 Saxonburg Blvd., West Deer.

Cost is $60 per animal and includes spay or neuter, FVRCR and rabies vaccines, flea treatment and optional ear tip. Microchipping will available for a separate charge. Pet and feral cats are welcome.

Appointments are first come, first served. A $20 non-refundable deposit is required that will be applied to the appointment cost at checkout.

Leechburg Veterans Day committee seeking youngest veteran

The Leechburg Veterans Day committee is planning a small ceremony on Nov. 11 to dedicate the veterans banners in the borough at Freedom Square along Market Street.

The committee is looking for the youngest veteran who lives in Leechburg or Gilpin who can attend that day. If you think you could be the youngest veteran and can be present, call Wayne Dobos at 724-842-3191 or message him on Facebook.

If social distancing has forced you into an unsafe situation, help is available by calling the Alle-Kiski HOPE Center 24-hour hotline at 724-224-1266.

The hotline provides information about domestic violence, community resources, safety planning, support and more.
