Alle-Kiski HOPE Center seeks donations

The Alle-Kiski Area HOPE Center, Tarentum, is in need of household and personal items for the clients that it serves.

Items needed include hair products, regular-size conditioner, make-up for all skin colors, new infant rattles, teething toys and pacifiers; and new brooms, mops and dust pans. The animal Saf-T Kennel could also use donations of dog and cat food, cat litter and litter boxes.

Donations can be dropped off from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays at the HOPE Center administration building, 500 E. Eighth Ave., Tarentum. For information and alternate drop-off times, call 724-224-1100.


Rivers of Life Church collecting socks for homeless shelters

Rivers of Life Church, Arnold, is conducting a “Socktober” sock collection drive through Oct. 31 at the church, 204 McCandless St.

Donations of new socks of all colors, sizes and patterns are welcome and will be donated to local homeless shelters. Collection bins are placed at the door.


AVH Auxiliary to hold sale

Allegheny Valley Hospital Auxiliary will host a Jewels, Bags and More sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday in the hospital lobby, 1301 Carlisle St., Natrona Heights.

Merchandise will include accessories, vests, scarves, shawls and jewelry. Cash, checks and credit cards will be accepted. Proceeds benefit auxiliary-sponsored hospital projects.


Meeting set to discuss improvements to Northmoreland Park

The Westmoreland County Bureau of Parks and Recreation will host an open house and public meeting to discuss plans for renovations and upgrades to Northmoreland Park from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the park activity center, 280 Markle Road, Allegheny Township.

Preliminary ideas that were developed from collected survey results will be presented and there will be an opportunity for the public to give feedback and speak with parks staff.
